The six projects of the Northeast Georgia Power System are listed below. Many times a project will have different names for the lake, the dam and the powerplant. Sometimes they are the same. Below they are listed from the most upstream to the most downstream.
Two major factors determine the desireability of a particular site for hydropower. These are:
- Water Availability
- Topography of the land
The more water that is available the more desireable the site is. Also, the more "fall" there is in an area, the more desireable, all things else being equal. By "fall" is meant the natural slope of the land. All things else being equal, a project in a semi-mountainous area is more desireable than one in "flat lands", because there is more "fall" (more slope).
